Drainage Expertise Built Since 2009
UKDP began as a specialist in off-mains drainage, working with septic tanks, sewage treatment plants, soakaways and the private pipework connecting them. This technical foundation remains central to the business today.
As customers brought UKDP a wider range of problems, our capabilities grew with their needs. We now investigate, survey, repair and install both mains and off-mains drainage systems, handling everything from blocked or damaged pipework to complete system replacements and substantial civils projects.
Since 2009, UKDP has completed over 20,000 jobs for homeowners, commercial clients, property professionals and some of the country’s largest landowners. That experience allows us to assess each site properly, explain the findings clearly and recommend work based on what the drainage system genuinely requires.
From Off-Mains Specialist to Nationwide Provider
UKDP was founded in 2009 by James and Sam Warren as an off-mains drainage specialist. In 2023 the business was bought out by its management team, led by David Gough, and became part of SML Group. The team, the offices and the way we work did not change. Joining SML Group provided the scale and resources to expand the business while retaining the specialist knowledge on which it was built.
Today, UKDP delivers drainage and water supply work across England, Scotland and Wales. Our customer and technical teams operate from offices in Leicester, Birmingham and Glasgow, supported by experienced engineers and a trusted nationwide partner network.
This wider capability has also strengthened UKDP’s work within the insurance sector. We handle claims on behalf of leading loss adjusters and several high-net-worth insurers, and work in partnership with major structural warranty providers. Wherever a project is located, it receives coordinated technical, operational and customer support from UKDP.
Our Managing Director
David Gough, Managing Director. David has worked in drainage and insurance since 2001 and led the management buyout of UKDP in 2023. He is the FCA approved person responsible for insurance distribution at UKDP and is based at the Glasgow office. He writes the regulation and claims guides on this site.

Specialist Support for Drainage Insurance Claims
UKDP combines technical drainage investigations with an understanding of the insurance claims process. Our team gathers evidence, identifies the cause and extent of the damage, and prepares factual reports that allow the claim to be assessed properly.
We have supported more than 2,000 successful claims for customers. When a claim is accepted, UKDP manages the approved repair or replacement, giving customers one point of contact from investigation through to completion.

How does UKDP decide what drainage work is necessary?
Recommendations are based on the evidence gathered during an inspection or survey. UKDP explains the condition of the system, the cause of the problem and the available options. We only recommend work when the findings show it is required.
Will I receive a written drainage report?
A written report is provided where the service includes formal investigation or surveying. Its contents depend on the type of survey, but it can include findings, photographs, CCTV evidence, compliance information and recommendations. UKDP confirms what documentation is included before the visit.
Does UKDP provide fixed quotations?
Yes. For most repair, installation and civils work, UKDP completes an initial assessment and provides a fixed quotation once the required scope is understood. Home buyer and home seller drainage surveys have published fixed prices. Any additional costs are explained before work proceeds.
